Wali, A., Severson, R., & Longoni, M. (2002). THE CHICAGO CENTER FOR ARTS POLICY AT COLUMBIA COLLEGE INFORMAL ARTS: FINDING COHESION, CAPACITY AND OTHER CULTURAL BENEFITS IN UNEXPECTED PLACES (pp. 1–91). https://www.americansforthearts.org/sites/default/files/informal_arts_full_report.pdf
Abstract: This article highlights informal arts and the effect it has on a community and the ability it has to pull people together amongst various backgrounds, occupations, age etc. There are case studies that are examined in this article that involved some form of informal arts activity throughout various art disciplines. All of these activities were focused on building community by bridging differences among people, building creative capacities in civic organizations, and strengthening the artistic sector together. Ultimately the studies concluded that the level of participation in these group activities confirmed that the informal arts were powerful beyond the individual but for the development of communities.
Annotation: I plan to use this article for the means of another perspective in informal art making. One aspect of the article I felt was valuable to mention was the multidisciplinary factor of the study. This will provide a wider scope of informal art making. This article will help the paper focus on how much it builds up communities and how there is evidence it did in 12 separate occasions. Overall this article will secure the positive effects informal art making has on a community and it will pair nicely with the alternative perspective of the effects it has on an individual.

Stephens, C. (n.d.). Artist Statement. ABSTRACTOMETRY. Retrieved November 2, 2020, from https://www.abstractometry.com/artiststatement
Abstract: Christa Stephans is a conceptual artist that creates paintings revolving around the principles: unity and contrast. She creates drawings, paintings, and design work that interacts with each other both uniformly and in variety. This artist utilizes shapes and patterns upon a grid. Moving these pieces on the grid represents how aspects of life change and shift. The fascination she has lies within the improvised play of the shapes on the known grid of the painting. The artist describes the work as a sort of reflection of the orderliness of nature and finding connections between the orderly and organic surroundings.
Annotation: I intend to utilize this artist statement for my paper to show someone that relies on improvisation to create her work. I think that is a huge aspect of informal art making that should be at least mentioned. Informal art making usually involves the unknown and the experimental, which is what this artist seems to stand for. I think with an artist viewpoint that aligns with informal art making it will provide a real life perspective that will capture the readers attention and seem relatable.
